Translation help

Why does a language say unavailable?

The selected language may need an Apple language resource or TalkieTalkie model installed on the phone. Connect to Wi-Fi, open TalkieTalkie Settings, review language readiness, and complete any system download offered. Then return to Talk and try a short phrase.

Why was the wrong spoken language detected?

Confirm both language pickers before starting. Speak one complete phrase at a time and reduce overlapping voices or background audio. TalkieTalkie can use recent speaker and language context, but accent, short phrases, names, and similar-sounding languages can remain ambiguous.

Does translation require the internet?

Talk, Text, and Look are designed as internet-free translation services after required resources are installed. Resource downloads, account functions, ads, Ask, Nearby, and current place information can require internet access.

Why is the first phrase missing?

Check that the phone is not muted in a way that affects playback, that TalkieTalkie has microphone and speech-recognition permission, and that another Mac or mirroring session is not taking over the phone microphone. Stop, wait for Ready, and begin again.

Guest and account help

Do I need an account?

No. Core translation is available to guests. Guest preferences remain on the current phone. An optional account can retain supported preferences across reinstalls or devices.

Why did my verification email not arrive?

Confirm the address, check spam or junk, wait a few minutes, and request a new verification message in the app. Only the newest unexpired code may work. Never send a verification code to support.

Can Apple or Google sign in to an existing account?

Yes, when the provider uses the same verified email or has already been linked. If Apple Hide My Email supplies a private-relay address, first sign in with the existing method and link Apple from account settings. TalkieTalkie should not create a duplicate account silently.

How do I delete my account?

Use Settings → Account → Delete Account, or follow the verified fallback process on the account-deletion page.

Ask, Nearby, and ads

Can Ask answer about a destination not shown in the picker?

Yes. Type the destination in your question or choose the custom-location option. Ask may use the internet for current or place-specific answers even though translation services remain on-device.

Why does Nearby need location or internet access?

Nearby needs a destination or location to return useful places. Live place identity, map, rating, and availability data comes from online map services. You can deny current location and enter a destination instead.

Can I change advertising privacy choices?

Open TalkieTalkie Settings and choose Advertising Privacy when available. You can also review tracking permission under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Ads can still appear when personalization or tracking is declined.

Optional diagnostics

For a technical problem, sign in and open Settings → Support Diagnostics. Review the explanation, enable diagnostics if you agree, and send a current snapshot. The snapshot is designed to include readiness and settings—not conversations, audio, photos, precise location, or your readable email address. You can turn diagnostics off again at any time.

Safety

Translations and AI-generated travel information can be wrong. Do not rely on TalkieTalkie as the sole source for emergencies, medical instructions, legal rights, immigration, safety-critical directions, allergens, or financial decisions. Contact local emergency services when immediate help is needed.
